Flying Horses

Martha's-Vineyard-Flying-Horses-Scrapbook-Layout

My husband captured this series of pictures of his cousin waiting for Flying Horses, the nation’s oldest carousel in Oaks Bluff, Martha’s Vineyard, to  start.  We were so amused at how completely oblivious she was that she was being photographed and quite naturally you can see exactly when she realized.  That big smile upon realization is priceless.

Patterned Paper

I used this cute paper line that I found at Tuesday Morning for just $5.99 and came with 18 sheets of double-sided paper and a sheet of coordinated stickers.  For the base I used the Embark paper which is a pretty neutral with hints of compasses and blue graph lines that match the blue paper I used under the green polka dot patterned paper. I found some of the papers and ephemera on Amazon.

The title In the Spotlight is a 29th Street Market title I had in my stash for a while. It was perfect for this layout. I pulled the flower from a paperclip embellishment and it fit perfectly for the “o” and I used Aleene’s Tacky Glue to glue it on since the flower has a felt texture.

I popped the title up with 3D Dots by EK Tools.  I really like these because there is no waste as you can use the frame that holds the various dots to pop up items that have intricate designs.

  1. This is such a good idea & how well it has turned out. I have recently started doodling which is really fun. I guess both these things help a lot to reduce anxiety and increase concentration! Good going!!

    1. Be sure to check out the post I have about getting started and scrapbooking basics. It has been updated to entry.

Also, I’d love to see the projects. Tag my on Instagram for sure!

    1. Alvern, it is seriously my favorite thing to do besides reading and traveling. LOL Sometimes you can do a little a day though. I call it drive by scrapbooking. I will set up a space with a layout and work on it a little each day if I am running low on time.

    1. Cristina yes, this was such a cute discovery after vacation to see how she was just in her own world, waiting and my husband captured those pictures. It was so funny to see the moment she discovered he was taking more pictures. LOL

    1. Oh yes, Tara. With other paper and themes you can create completely different looks. I sometimes “scraplift” my own layouts and for other themes.

    1. Heather I hear you. A lot of people are just so busy. Sometimes I put a 30 – 60 minute appointment on my calendar to carve out time. Or I just start a project and leave it out or in a pretty 13 x 13 box to work on little by little when I have 10 or 15 minutes here or there. It has been working out so far. 🙂

  2. Such a great idea 🙂 I have so many items that I have always intended to put into a scrapbook – your post has inspired me to get onto it!

    1. Awesome Alexandra. I hope you will share some or tag me on your creations once you do! I always enjoy seeing what people are working on. It is definitely part of the fun.

    1. Jessica, I really try to keep it very simple so that it is not so time consuming. Sometimes I enjoy planning out my pages (for mini albums or tag albums) when I am doing other things. Then when I sit down to craft, I am ready to go! 🙂
