Your Favorite Scrapbook Expert is Coming and Their Class Costs What

So you were just notified that your favorite scrapbook expert is coming and their class costs what??  Have you noticed that the cost to attend workshops taught by some industry leaders is ever increasing.  I have never been one to be star struck or awestruck over anyone, however there are certain scrapbook experts that have techniques and styles I enjoy.   The inclination to register for the class would have to be within reason regardless. I know the “within reason” is different for everyone.

Whatever the cost for the workshop or class, there are some things to consider.  Like, what is the class really worth? I have to ask myself, am I paying $$ or $$$ because of the expert teaching the class or does the project really interest me?

Top reasons for signing up for a class:

3 Craft Items You Should Not Buy

This post contains affiliate links and if you click on one and make a purchase, I might receive a small commission at no cost to you.

craft items you should not buy

Although there are probably many items you can think of, these are just 3 craft items you should not buy. You are better off making exactly what you need and saving paper and money.

Large Die-cut packs

Instead of purchasing die-cut packs of 100 pieces, let those deals inspire you to create your own themed packs with your Cricut.  Oftentimes, when we purchase the 100+ packs because it is such a great deal, we end up with 90 pieces leftover that we never use.   In retrospect that 100 piece pack at $4.99 that we justified was such a great deal because it was a nickel a piece for each adorable die cut, title card, journal card, and so on really ends up costing 10 times that.  It is better to just buy the specific pieces we need and avoid the waste. Personalized Gifts You Can Make Over and Over…

Personalize a frame with a first or last name or a word

When you think of personalized or homemade gifts it doesn’t have to mean the gift looks homemade. Also, you don’t have to pay someone else to make it, and wait weeks for it to arrive because it is a custom gift. You can customize this beautiful gift over and over. Different letters, custom colors, the background and framing of the letters is up to you. Just purchase a beautiful frame and customize the rest.

A good friend of mine who obviously has a great eye for “letters found in nature” made a beautiful gift for me that was my last name and one of my wedding photos.  Knowing how much I enjoy this personal gift, I decided to bless a friend with one.

Paper Scraps Use: Unique Mini Album

scrap paper use unique mini album I enjoy finding ways to use my scrapbook paper scraps and making this accordion mini album was no different.  Paper scraps use is always an awesome way to preserve your budget while transforming those pretty little scraps into something delightful. Lets face it, they are kind of hard to part with.

Since it is a good idea to cut your scraps down to manageable squares (6×6, 5×5, and so on), they are already a perfect size for use in mini albums, cards, tags, book markers, etc.  I especially love it when I can make an entire mini album.

recycled material for scrapbooking

Using recycled materials for scrapbooking is “green” so we feel good about reducing the need for conventional waste disposal. It is cost effective because we are saving money by using what we already have, and both challenging and fun because it is interesting to see what we can do with items we would otherwise trash or throw in the recycle bin.  Here are 3 suggestions: Continue reading “Using Recycled Materials for Scrapbooking”
