How do you wake up to your life everyday?

In the more recent past, I was not being consistent and intentional about my usual morning routine. This is another reason I am so excited about being a part of Chrystal Evans Hurst’s She’s Still There Rescue Team. It has caused me to get back to starting my day in God’s Word daily and staying more connected throughout the day.

I wake up to my prayer journal which is a 3 ring binder that I put together using several systems from various blogs but was mostly inspired by Daily Dwelling with my own personal tweaks and updates to fit my needs.  I use the Bible app on my phone since that is where I track my reading plans.  I include any book or devotional I am reading at the time and a notebook that has a fun and inviting pattern and a tall glass of water.

This is the quality time I need with God every morning, in His word, praying, talking with Him and listening for His direction.  There is just something about starting my day this way that sets an overall positive tone.  This is not to say that things don’t go wrong on the days I have this space and time, but I am better equipped to handle what the day holds. I take comfort in knowing that God is not surprised by how the day unfolds and when I don’t spend this time, I notice the difference.

I would love to hear how you wake up to your life everyday. Leave it in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I don’t exactly have a routine, although maybe I should. We have a small office space built into our garage and I use that as my quiet time with God. Whether I meet with Him during the early morning, afternoon, or night I bring a journal, my bible (hard copy… a little ole school I guess), and a cup of coffee. I find that meeting with God in the mornings definitely sets the stage for the rest of the day. As you said, not to say things don’t go wrong but my heart has been cultivated and prepared for what is to come.

Thank you for sharing how you spend your mornings.

    1. Hi Chrystal

I am a little old school too. I like to have my bible when I study too but lately I have been trying to juggle a lot of reading plans. 🙂
