Scrapbook Page Layouts – When You Only Have Minutes

one photo page layout

One of the number one reasons people don’t scrapbook to preserve their memories is time.  I hear this more often than you think:  “I just don’t have time.”   A close second is “I am not creative.”

Scrapbook page layouts do not have to take hours to put together, and they don’t have to be overly embellished. Here is a quick page layout that I put together in minutes that is both simple and lovely. This one is perfect for a one picture layout.

The key is a base paper with a beautiful pattern that you can easily add simple photo mats to and then some minor embellishments.

So that is the Formula:

  • Choose a beautiful base paper – We all know what type of paper this refers to–the type of paper that is so pretty you don’t want to cut it.
  • Choose simple embellishments – This allows the picture to be the star.
  • Choose basic photo mats – You can add a little flair with a special border but again, simplicity is the key.

These layouts are great when you want to feature a special photo but you don’t have a lot of time to spend on a layout OR you don’t want too much embellishment to take away from the photo itself.

I personally use these types of layouts for wedding photos, baby photos, or other special photos that focus more on the picture itself.

What do you typically use simple layouts for? I’d love to “hear” your responses in the comments section.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hi Lacy.

This is very helpful. I have oodles of pics and some that I really want to pull together of my daughter who passed away July 2010. I want to have a bit of a commemoration for her children and to honor her memory.

But I am up to my ear lobes with my at home job, my special needs 6 year old, and of all things, two teens who are flip flopping around life. I love that this is a simple solution to creating a page that is better than just slapping a few pics together in a photo album.

    Thank for the idea!

    Linda

    1. Hi Linda,

Thank you so much for sharing. I am glad that you found the post helpful. I have used the same method to make shadow boxes to honor loved ones.
